Look for Less - Spring Shoe Edition (See Jane Save)

  Gucci  / Sam Edelman
Chloe / Marc Fisher
While I love original designer styles, I admittedly don't always love the price tags.  Some styles are classic and worth the splurge, while others I'd rather just dabble and save my dollars.  Nothing is more satisfying than finding a deal so I thought I'd pass along some current styles that are awfully similar to the 'real thing.'

Honestly, when I found the Marc Fisher version of the Chloe d'Orsay heels--I think I shrieked.  Marc Fisher also does a great mule that is currently in my cart..

Keep Your Off the Shoulder Tops (See Jane Wear)

similar Zara top, rag & bone jeans, Blank Canvas mules (old but similar here and here)
Off the shoulder is apparently here to stay. I can't browse for dresses or tops without at least half of them showing some shoulder.  Look out for some variations of the trend in the coming months, but rest easy knowing that your off the shoulder tops can be worn again this year (I know you hoarded them last year, just like the rest of us!).

Tomboy Style (See Jane Wear)

Zara jacket (old but similar), rag & bone jeans (shop more rag & bone jeans here), old Vince shoes (similar--they're amazing! shop more oxfords here), Vince tee, Chanel bag (shop vintage Chanel here)
I could never let men have all the fun.  Sure, I like dresses, skirts, sequins, but a trim black pant with oxfords and a blazer?  I mean, we women look just as good in that stuff.  I always like to have a hint of androgyny in my outfits--keeps things interesting.  Maybe that's why I've always liked my hair on the shorter side.  It's all making sense to me now...I was a tomboy in a past life (because I certainly wasn't in this life).

Why You Need a Bomber Jacket for Spring (See Jane Wear)

Vince bomber. (look for less here and here), Vince turtleneck (similar on sale), Paige jeans, Stan Smith shoes, Illesteva sunglasses, YSL bag

Is it just me or has this been a crazy week?  It feels like I need more days in the week right now and tomorrow is already Thursday!  I only have time for a quick, one picture post.  This bomber (shop all bombers); bought it in the fall and already thinking about how to wear it now and in the spring.  THOSE are the pieces you should be buying, folks!  I love it--and can't wait to wear it over a black slip dress once the temperatures warm up.

Blending In (See Jane Wear)

Madewell top (also here and shop more Madewell here), Mother jeans (shop Mother here), Valentino pumps (look for less here), J Crew coat, Cuyana bag (shop more saddle bags here), Illesteva sunglasses (shop more illesteva here)

Remember when cupcakes were so trendy?  That's when I first started blogging (almost exactly seven years ago).  Then, macarons became the dessert du jour right around the time Instagram came to be.  Now, doughnuts are having their big moment--and have been for a few years now.  Why do I mention this?  Well, these photos are taken at the Doughnut Vault in Chicago; it's delicious--go if you are ever in town.  But also, I've been blogging forever and I just realized that my anniversary is coming up.

If you ever want to know my thoughts on the whole blogging industry, check them out here (and report back).

Embroidered Floral Sweater (See Jane Wear)

Zara sweater, Rag & Bone jeans, Manolo Blahnik heels, lips 'dragon girl'

When you know, you know; that's how it was when I saw this sweater on Zara.  But there was a problem--it wasn't available.  So, I dutifully typed in my email in the chance it would come back in stock and lo and behold, that night, I received an email.  When it arrived (did you see my insta-story?), it was more beautiful in person than online so I wore it that week to work.  I was stopped just about every minute from co-workers inquiring about this sweater.  Some loved it (it really IS Gucci-esque), I'm sure, others were probably curious...or maybe even nostalgic for the last time they wore an embroidered sweater themselves ( a child in the 90s, most likely).  Either way, this sweater is a conversation piece and I can't wait to continue it forward.

Poplin Tie Top Love (See Jane Wear)

Ann Taylor coat (old but similar and here and here - shop more red coats here), Zara top (old but ASOS versions here and here), Frame jeans (shop Frame jeans here), Aquazzura pumps (shop red pumps here), Chanel bag, Celine sunglasses
When I saw this Zara top, it was love.  It was also late spring 2016 and I was sporting a little baby bump.  I bought it thinking, 'this tie top will look so cute over a little bump with high-waisted maternity pants!'  Yeah, it didn't.  But, I thought the top was so great that I didn't return it and I tucked it away for its debut in spring 2017.  Here we are--but it's not quite spring.  However, in my ode to tell you how much I love this top, I thought I'd make it Valentine's Day appropriate and douse it with red.

Although the top it sold out: this j crew top is a fun spin on the tie top, this top is a casual version here. and this tibi top is a great polished iteration.

Daily Office Style (See Jane Work)

I always receive a lot of questions about my job at Trunk Club (and the dress code) and at this point, I'm so far removed from corporate America, that I just don't think I can go back--especially to that dress code.  I think people are super interested in what others wear to work (I know I am) so I love that I'm able to show you snippets while I'm working.  Is there anything I can help you figure out, wardrobe-wise, at the office?  I can wear just about anything and I try to change it up, so if I can help bring a trend or item to life for you, let me know!
