The Good + the Bad (See Jane Wear)

duster (old but similar), dress (old but similar herehere and here), shoessunglassesbag
You guys: I only have a few weeks left with this bump.  I have some good news and some bad news, depending upon why you follow my blog.  The...news: I have about a month left of maternity outfits yet to feature.  Perhaps you're thrilled that they'll be over or maybe you'll miss them.  Either way, one month left of them.  Also, I'll have some post-baby looks coming on the blog next.  Again, this may interest you or not but hey, it's real life over here at See (Anna) Jane.  Full disclosure: it may be a tough time for my style (especially considering I will most likely be having another c-section--this baby is also breech)--but I'm going to give the ol' postpartum college try.

A Favorite Flat (See Jane Wear)

top (old but similar and also here), jeans, shoes (similar here, here and here), bag
I love wearing these woven flats.  Heels aren't always an option for me these days (pregnancy throws your balance off a bit) and I swear, every single time I wear these, people compliment them.  They look way more expensive than they were (I bought them at Zara) and are also super comfortable.  Sometimes, you just need to keep it simple.

2016 Fall Trends (See Jane Want)

interesting sleeves: red dressbell top, bell ots dress
neckwear: neck scarfbolo tie
mid-calf boots: tan bootieblue bootiesnakeskin bootie
fall floral: chelsea28 dressvb dress

I'm not wishing away summer--trust me, but as someone who works in retail and is style obsessed, I love a good change in season.  It's like starting fresh and shedding your skin.  Reorganizing your closet by getting rid of the old and putting in the new; it's cathartic, really.  I haven't bit the bullet on much yet this fall, but that's because of this big ol' bump I'm sporting.  Once the baby arrives and I start to fit into some clothes (well, hopefully) again, I'll be on the hunt for my favorite 2016 fall trends.

Velvet - it's luxe, rich and going to be everywhere this fall.  Blame the 90s revival (remember CRUSHED velvet) but you didn't think chokers and slip dresses with t-shirts underneath were going to come back around and not velvet, did you?!

Neck candy - ...speaking of chokers (shop chokers HERE)....You pretty much can't escape covering your neck this fall.  Chokers, turtlenecks, scarves!  There's something so very naughty flight attendant about it and I personally LOVE it.

Color - as much as I love some monochromatic outfitting, I'm pretty excited for color to re-enter my closet.  Cheerful blues and pinks are the sweetheart of the fall season, which is a nice departure from the usual fall tones we see (shop pink coats HERE).

Fall Floral - again, it's time to inject some much needed pattern into my life.  I have the basics and essentials--now I need the showstoppers.  Rebecca Taylor (shop RT fall HERE), ALC and Suno are all doing florals right this fall (shop Suno HERE).

Dramatic sleeves - maybe it's one-sleeve, maybe it's the cold shoulder, maybe it's the bell sleeve (shop bell sleeves HERE); whatever it is, designers are bringing attention to your arms, whether you like it or not.

Mid-calf boots - We all have the OTK boots (and we love them--shop OTK boots HERE) and more booties than we can handle, but remember mid-calf boots?  Well, if you don't, they're back and a new silhouette to add to your arsenal.  If you're feeling really sassy, wear them with some cropped flare jeans.

What are you looking forward to this fall?

Home Stretch (See Jane Wear)

dress (similar here and shop chambray dresses HERE), shoes (shop block heels HERE),
bag (shop white bags HERE)

It's the final countdown, everyone.  I have just over a month left to go in this pregnancy and I think it just hit me that I'm having another baby.  With your second, you feel like a pro (hint: you're not) BUT you've already been through all the 'firsts.'  Throw in the fact that this is another boy, I actually haven't bought a thing. I should probably get his room ready..

And don't feel bad for little guy #2.  I was the FOURTH child so my whole life was a hand-me-down.

It Was All Yellow (See Jane Wear)

old dress (similar and shop yellow dresses HERE), j

(on sale here and shop Veronica Beard jackets HERE), shoes (shop Stuart Weitzman HERE), bag
Remember Coldplay? Just kidding.  But I have a fun story about them when first debuted on the scene.  The year was 2001, I think and my sister was coming home from college to see them at a small venue in Detroit (which was about 45 minutes from my parents house - we did this a lot growing up); tickets were $10 and I'm pretty sure it was a school night--my oldest sister and friend came, too.  We went, had a great time--it was an awesome concert, maybe because they only had one album out at the time (Parachutes, which is my favorite album from them) and we got to meet them!  My friend and I were often asked backstage as ripe young teenagers to meet and party with bands--we always did.  You would too, if you were 16!

Meeting them was a bit anticlimactic; I had a lot more fun with the rest of the people backstage and my sisters and friend.  They were super dry (maybe it was their British demeanor) and surprisingly they complained about how much they hated Detroit and its industrial feel; Chris Martin barely came out from backstage.  TL;DR version:  I still like Coldplay even though they don't like the Midwest and Chris Martin is (has always been?) a diva.

Change of Dress (See Jane Wear)

dress (similar here, here here + short version here),
shoes (similar here and here
), bag
Phase out florals for fall?  Never!  There's nothing that makes more sense to me than 'autumn-izing' (yes, I just made up that word) a summer print.  Dresses like this, from Nordstrom, are easy enough to wear now when it's 90 degrees outside and again to a fall wedding a few months down the road.  If I'm feeling sassy, I might even pair this with a light pink leather jacket + ankle boots (with a BOW) I've been eyeing from Nordstrom.

I mentioned that I'm loving patterns and feminine silhouettes again, like this ruffled skirt from Nordstrom; maybe it's the growing bump thats causing the change or heart--or maybe I'm sick of monochromatic outfits.  Or maybe I'm sick of pants?  Well, whatever the case, my closet will probably have a little more personality this fall.

All White, All White (See Jane Wear)

Fall is coming but I will hold onto white dresses as long as I possibly can.  You'll have to pry them out of my dead, lifeless hands!  Ok, fine, I'm being dramatic but there's just nothing as crisp and chic as a little, white dress.  So, come at me fall; you can take me down while wearing a white dress.

(This dress was last seen HERE.)

Cape Cod Camo (See Jane Wear)

maternity chic outfit
jacket (similar and shop stripe blazers HERE), jeans (similar and shop maternity jeans HERE),
heels, top, sunglasses (shop Saint Laurent sunglasses HERE)
When I first wore this jacket on Cape Cod (see insta-post here), I joked that I was wearing Cape Cod camo.  Stripes are everywhere--and I blended in!  Horizontal stripes are one of those patterns that you may think to avoid during pregnancy, but there's an integral part of my wardrobe.  It's like asking a leopard to change its spots--and I won't stop wearing stripes.

Gradual (See Jane Wear)

dress, jacket (less expensive version here on Anniversary Sale! and here),
shoes (similar here and here), bag, lipstick
I have such a love/hate relationship with the pre-fall season.  I don't want summer to disappear, yet I long for fall clothing and am enticed by third pieces, boots, and sweaters at Nordstrom.  I promise though, you don't need to put on your parka just quite yet--there is a way to buy now/wear now some of these transition pieces.  When shopping at Nordstrom, I gravitate towards dresses that I can wear now with bare legs and later with tights.  While the weather is still warm, I'll pair with sandals; once it gets chilly, I'll wear a bootie with bare legs.  Once it's full on freezing, I'll break out the tights.  Same with third pieces (that's a fancy phrase for 'jackets')--I'll wear one like this, from Nordstrom, over a light dress and then I'll gradually wear more and more layers underneath.

And don't worry, I'm definitely guilty of buying fall pieces early on with no intention of wearing them for a good month; I HAVE already bought a pair of over-the-knee boots for winter (hey, they might sell out and I really want them).  Hey, I'm human, after all.

**Thanks to Nordstrom for patterning with this post!

Style Journey (See Jane Wear)

dress (similar), jacket (on sale HERE!), mules (similar here and here), sunglasses
Sometimes, when I wear form-fitting dresses, I feel like a python who swallowed a baby pig for a meal.  Your body changes so much during pregnancy that it's hard to remember what it was like to get up in the morning and pick out an outfit with ease; suddenly, wearing something as simple as a t-shirt and jeans seems daunting and looks off.  I need to remind myself that it's just part of my style journey.  It sounds silly, but we're all faced with different challenges when we put on clothes in the morning (really, everyone struggles from time to time) and in the end, you just have to do what feels right for you.  And also, thank goodness for the internet for giving me constant inspiration.  Pregnancy style would be much harder without Pinterest - right?
