It Was All Yellow (See Jane Wear)

Remember Coldplay? Just kidding.  But I have a fun story about them when first debuted on the scene.  The year was 2001, I think and my sister was coming home from college to see them at a small venue in Detroit (which was about 45 minutes from my parents house – we did this a lot growing up); tickets were $10 and I’m pretty sure it was a school night–my oldest sister and friend came, too.  We went, had a great time–it was an awesome concert, maybe because they only had one album out at the time (Parachutes, which is my favorite album from them) and we got to meet them!  My friend and I were often asked backstage as ripe young teenagers to meet and party with bands–we always did.  You would too, if you were 16!

Meeting them was a bit anticlimactic; I had a lot more fun with the rest of the people backstage and my sisters and friend.  They were super dry (maybe it was their British demeanor) and surprisingly they complained about how much they hated Detroit and its industrial feel; Chris Martin barely came out from backstage.  TL;DR version:  I still like Coldplay even though they don’t like the Midwest and Chris Martin is (has always been?) a diva.
