White on White on White (See Jane Wear)

1.STATE white culottes, Theory sweater, ASOS camel coat, ShoeMint mules (love these, too), Clare V clutch (similar), Illesteva sunglasses,  MAC 'vegas volt' lipstick
With the winter-like weather we've been experiencing in Chicago, I realize this outfit looks a little out of place.  I was actually in Dallas, visiting our Trunk Club office and wow--that's some weather and Tex-Mex a girl could get used to.  I hadn't been to Texas in years but it was great to get back down south, visit with colleagues/friends and eat my weight in chips and salsa.

(Also, I have my new favorite traveling pants in these culottes.  Nothing could be comfier, but I may need to get them on black to conceal the inevitable coffee stains.)

ASOS camel coat, Zara check top, Paige flares, Ray Ban mirrored aviators, Chanel nude bag

And just like that, it's winter again.

PS. It's unofficial 'Wear Your Flares' week on See (Anna Jane).

That 70s Vibe (See Jane Wear)

Madewell flare jeans, J Crew blazer (old but similar), vintage scarf, Madewell white button down,
Marc by Marc Jacobs 'peg' clutch, Saint Laurent sunglasses,
Pour la Victoire wedges (old but similar)
Once spring rolls around, it's time to shed those layers--and that includes my dark and heavy handbags. This nude clutch from Nordstrom is perfect for warmer temperatures; it doesn't hurt that it goes with everything in my closet, too--from my ripped jeans with Stan Smith sneakers to this 1970s getup.

I've been listening to 'the Bridge' station on XM radio a little too much lately...is it obvious?  (see: 1970s soft rock)

The Navy Trench Coat (See Jane Wear)

Chelsea28 trench, Joie sweater, Current/Elliott white jeans, Mansur Gavriel bag,
Acne 'pistol' booties, Saint Laurent sunglasses
This navy trench coat from Nordstrom, paired here with bright whites and a red lip, has me feeling all Carolyn Bassette-Kennedy.  The rich navy color is a bit unexpected in this classic silhouette but I find it to be a natural addition to my closet (and let's be real, I've never met a coat I haven't liked).  A longer, chic trench coat is one of the better 90s throwbacks and I'm loving them for spring.

Ladylike Midi Skirt (See Jane Wear)

Kenna-T leather jacket (very old but similar), Club Monaco sweater, Zara midi skirt (similar),
J Crew cage pumps,
Mansur Gavriel tote, Saint Laurent sunglasses
Every year around this time, I get an itch.  Maybe it's my wooly sweaters, but more than likely it's an itch for spring.  Every year, there's a morning when I wake up, get out of bed, ponder what to wear, take a step back from my closet and decide I'm done with jeans + boots + sweaters.   I throw caution to the wind, lose the tights, and maybe some of my dignity, too (kidding).  Luckily, this ladylike oozes sophistication, even if I'm feeling a little frazzled and haphazard myself.

This is what Chicago winter does to me, people.

White Culottes (See Jane Winterize + Wear Now)

1.STATE white culottes, Club Monaco sweater, Club Monaco feather vest (also on sale here!), J Crew cage pumps, Saint Laurent sunglasses, Chanel boy bag
White culottes in winter?  I'm not crazy--I just have spring fever.  I winterized them by adding black--a sweater and feather vest to be exact.  I know I'll be wearing this when the temperatures start to rise, but have no qualms wearing them now to the office (and I commute in Uggs so my skin isn't exposed--no shame in my game).

Easy Paleo Granola (See Jane Make)

I grew up eating my mom's granola.  Nothing compares--it's been my favorite for decades.  However, I tried a co-workers granola and when she told me it was paleo, I couldn't believe it.  It was crunchy, nutty, coconut-y--pure deliciousness.  How could there not be grains in it?  Well, I immediately googled and decided to make my own (as I didn't want to spend $15 on it at Whole Foods).  I found this recipe and made a few tweaks to it to create my own perfect, paleo granola.

1 cup raw walnuts
1 cup raw cashews
1 cup raw pepitas
1 cup raw sunflower seeds
1 cup raw pecans
1 cup coconut flakes
1 cup dried cranberries
4 T coconut oil
1/3 cup honey
1/2 t cinnamon
1/2 t kosher salt

Preheat oven to 300 degrees.  Pulse nuts in food processor/blender (the Vitamix is powerful, so not too long--you want plenty of chunks).  Melt coconut oil over low heat and add honey, cinnamon and salt.  Combine all ingredients and spread evenly on parchment paper.  Bake for 35-40 minutes, stirring at least twice while baking.  Let sit for at least 20 minutes while cooling (this is important--it created a chunky texture!)

Enjoy!

PS It's REALLY filling because there's no oats in it.  This stuff keeps you full until lunch, easily.

Striped Dress + Leather Jacket (See Jane Wear)

Three dots dress, Zara leather moto jacket (old but similar), Prada booties,
Saint Laurent 'preppy round' sunglasses, Mansur Gavriel bucket bag,
vintage fur stole (similar)
A striped dress and leather jacket combination is no stranger to me and my closet.  I've been pairing them together long before the blog started  in 2010.  That's right--I've been doing this blog for just about five years.  Whoa.

Seriously, check out these outfits (leather jacket + striped dresses!)--they go back as far as 2010:
