Tough Girl (See Jane Wear)

Muubaa leather jacket, American Rag sweater, H&M striped shirt,
Maternity James Jeans c/o, Saint Laurent sunglasses
It's tough to dress "cool" when you're pregnant.  Cute and pretty--sure, because you can throw on a dress, but often times the large bump has a difficult time portraying an edgy vibe.  Granted, this look isn't very tough-looking (mild at best), but I'm hoping I'm not going to be like a regular mom--I'd rather be a "cool mom." (see: Mean Girls reference).

Chocolate Covered Frozen Bananas (See Jane Crave)

My obsession for all things frozen and sweet has gotten out of control.  When I was a kid, I used to eat as much ice cream as I could get (and it was the one sweet that was usually in the house, probably because my mom loves it, too); in the past eight months of this pregnancy, I've reverted to my six year old self and eat it at least a few days a week.  When I came home from work last night and the first thing I did was grab an ice cream bar, I knew something had to give.  Enter: the chocolate covered banana.  It satisfies my sweet tooth and then I don't feel as guilty when I DO eat that pint of Jeni's or gelato once a week.

Insert craft sticks into bananas and freeze on parchment paper for an hour.  Using a double boiler, melt half a bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips and one tablespoon of canola or vegetable oil (makes it perfect for dipping/fondue).  Dip frozen bananas in chocolate and roll in topping of choice (I used chopped pistachios and shredded coconut--pretzels and jimmies would be good, too!).  Freeze for two hours before serving.

Pink Pop (See Jane Wear)

Zara dress (similar), ASOS coat (obviously a current favorite), H&M tights, MZ Wallace clutch,
Prada booties, Ray Ban sunglasses, T+J Designs necklace (c/o)
I'm at a point where only dresses or sweatpants are truly comfortable.  Sure, you'll still catch me in pants, but they've become less and less appealing as this belly grows.  Also, the countdown to this bebe boy has officially begun.  I feel like I'm scrambling a bit but in all honestly, that's when I get the most accomplished (true life: I'm a procrastinator).  I've been thinking about diaper bags, yet again, and now I'm re-thinking the whole 'anti-nylon' stance I took.   Someone commented that they see lots of moms toting MZ Wallace bags and it's gotten me thinking.  I'm liking this coral tote and this straw bag (for summer of course)--see the rest of my picks below.

Running Hot (See Jane Wear)

Dolce Vita dress (also here) Zara leather peplum jacket (old but similar),
Ray Ban mirrored aviators (and here), Zara boots, 3.1 Phillip Lim bag
Whoa, is that a heat wave I feel?  Or maybe it's pregnancy hot flashes?  Either way, I was running hot yesterday--a sensation that I haven't felt in quite sometime.  It's been so cold here in Chicago that 40 degrees feels like summer.  Whatever, let's not question it--or else it might snow again.

Blueberry + Lemon Coffee Cake Muffins (See Jane Bake)

All I wanted on Sunday afternoon was a berry muffin.  Given my past general indifference towards pastries, it's safe to say that this is Eric's child (who otherwise known to others as a sweets monger).  I succumbed to the craving and got to baking on Sunday; I used this recipe (but added the zest and juice of half a lemon--trust me and try it).  Both Eric and the baby approved (I'll speak for him since I ate it).  Is this the beginning of my sweet tooth or will my taste for all things savory come back?

Think Spring Thoughts (See Jane Wear)

BB Dakota dress, H&M tights, Kenna-T leather jacket (old but similar),
Chanel bag, Saint Laurent sunglasses, Prada booties
I want to buy new clothes so badly for two reasons: first, I think buying spring clothes will make the snow melt (it's been proven).  Second, I'm trying to refrain from purchasing new clothes since I'm in the home stretch of pregnancy (9 weeks to go!).  Fingers crossed that I'm able to fit back into my pre-pregnancy jeans (can anyone offer some advice on how long it takes?).  For now, I'll just be recycling the old, save for a maternity dress here or there, which I'll probably wear to an upcoming baby shower. See you soon, spring and baby boy.

Valentine Red (See Jane Wear)

Burberry coat (similar here and here), H&M pants, J Crew heels, Chanel bag
Happy Valentine's Day!  I hope you all have a great weekend celebrating, whether it's eating takeout on the couch with your significant other, a fancy night out with your girlfriends or a Saturday morning eating chocolates out of a heart-shaped box (hey, that doesn't sound half bad).  Wear some pink or red, too--even if they aren't your colors, they may help you get out of this winter slump.

The Heart of it All (See Jane Love)

7. candle /  8. sweatshirt / 9. stationary / 11. book / 10. shoes

How many of you REALLY celebrate Valentine's Day?  Personally, I've never been much into the cheesiness aspect of it: drug store chocolate, red roses and teddies (both stuffed animals AND lingerie--yikes)--not really me.  But then again, there were always aspects of this holiday that I loved growing up and still like: handwritten Valentine cards, an opportunity to wear pink and red, unexpected gifts and of course it's fun to have an excuse to tell people how much you love them.  Plus, on Monday, I can buy all the discounted pink and red peanut butter M&Ms and eat them at my desk at work.  ...that might be the pregnancy talking.

Same Coat, Different Week (See Jane Wear)

ASOS coat, Reiss dress, Dolce Vita boots (old but similar),
Saint Laurent sunglasses, Marc Jacobs bag
I bought this coat because I needed something to boost my winter wardrobe, but that I could also wear once I'm not pregnant.  Luckily, the double breasted style still covers my 30 week bump (I know...I can't believe it, either) but I know I will definitely be wearing it next fall/winter, too, when the bump is no longer.  I also dusted off from over-the-knee boots from the vault--2009 to be exact.  I probably last wore them here and it was fun to resurrect them!

Thoughts on Diaper Bags (See Jane Contemplate)

1 / 2 / 3 / 4
5 / 6 / 7
Do you know what I'm not ready for with this new baby? Mom jeans.  Kidding, kidding.  I will wait at least a decade before slipping into a pair of mom jeans.  But really, I don't think I can buy a traditional diaper bag.  All the ones I've seen just seem so....nylon.  I'd rather find an oversized bag that I love (and ideally that I would carry without diapers in it) and has the functionality I need.  Above are a few bags I'm eyeing for myself.  Any advice from experienced moms out there?

Dalmatian (See Jane Wear)

ASOS coat, F21 stole (old but similar), H&M maternity jeans (similar), Seychelles boots, Chanel bag, Saint Laurent sunglasses
This black and white motif is as spring-like as I can get during this chilly weather right now.  When winter gets me down (and it happens every February, like clockwork), I start to incorporate spring trends as a way to cure my blues.  Perhaps florals are next on my list of winter remedies?

Happy February // Weekend Style (See Jane Weekend)

baseball tee / ripped denim / mint coat / flats / sunglasses
Happy February!  I have spring on the brain and will be brightening up my winter blacks and navies with pops of metallics and pastels.  The easy part?  Your winter black jeans look good with just about anything, so you can add a piece here and there.  Enjoy the weekend!
