Nordstrom Designer Luxe (See Jane Shop)

Although it's Black Friday and the deals are plentiful, I can't help but to peruse for a few items on my own wishlist.  Nordstrom's Designer Luxe section fulfills my needs with investment pieces such as Saint Laurent and Chloe bags (I'm a bag collector, for sure) and fancy shoes for any occasion, from Ferragamo flats to Valentino pumps.  Check it out for yourself while in your post-turkey haze; I bet you'll find a few statement or investment pieces for either your own closet or a very special recipient!

Grateful (See Jane Thank)

Rebecca Taylor vest (on sale!), ASOS sweater, Zara pants (THE perfect maternity pants),
Chloe bag (very old but similar), Vince Camuto boots (similar here)
I just wanted to thank you all for following along my journey these past few years.  So much has happened in such a short time--I've changed careers, married Eric, adopted a dog and next year we're expecting a child.  I'm thankful that I've been able to share bits of my life; blogging has been a great way for me to express my passions and write about what I love.  Thank you so much for everything!

Pretty Grunge (See Jane Wear)

Vince beanie (c/o), Muubaa leather jacket, Gap sweater (old but similar), Zara skirt,
Seychelles booties, Theory scarf (old but similar), Celine bag
Leather, beanies and booties, oh my!  It's not exactly grunge but the appropriate elements are there.  I suspect I'll be wearing a version of this (i.e. beanie, stretchy skirt and a couple jackets) every week until spring arrives.

Rosemary's Baby (See Jane Wear)

ASOS maternity dress (non-maternity version), Chanel bag, Dolce Vita shoes (old but similar)
I realize Rosemary's Baby is quite a morbid title, but when you're wearing a 60s, maternity dress with a Peter Pan collar, it's really the only way to describe it (or Wednesday Addams).  So here's my debut: the first maternity piece.  I doubt I'll be buying much more, with the exception of pants (thanks for your tips!) but this dress was too cute to resist and I enjoyed being out of my style comfort zone for a day.

And in case you think I look a little older, yes, today is my birthday.  I'm 29 and can't help but to wonder where the past few years have gone.  Au revoir 20s!

Holiday Cards (See Jane Send)

happy holidays from chicago / cheers

Who else waits until it's way too late to decide you want to send out holiday cards?  Hopefully it's not just me; therefore, consider this your official reminder!  Like it or not, the holidays are upon us (and if you celebrate Hanukkah, you know that it's coming up next week!).  In our technology-obsessed society, snail mail is a great way to reconnect with friends and family.  No matter what you celebrate, people love receiving cards and letters in the mail.  Plus, it's a great way to brush up on your handwriting--remember what that's like?

Gray Matter (See Jane Wear)

J Crew coat, J Crew sweater (old but similar), Zara pencil skirt, J Crew pumps, Celine bag, NARS 'Dragon Girl'

I have a feeling this will be my last outfit sans tights for the next six months.  Anyway, that's life here in Chicago and I've become quite accustomed to it.  It's a good thing this skirt looks great with tights; I may be wearing it more often than not for the next 22 weeks.  As my belly grows and all my clothes tighten, I totally get why people buy maternity clothes.  I used to scoff at the idea and now I may be buying a pair of maternity jeans after all.  See how much I'm changing already with this child?!

Birthday Wishes (See Jane List)

party dress / alexa chung's book / cartier love bracelet
Thank you all so much for your kind words and congratulations.  I'm excited for this new chapter in my life and hope it inspires me and my blog even more!

Speaking of new chapters, I have a big ol' birthday coming up in a week.  I will be 29--the last year of my twenties, which have been nothing but awesome.  I can't believe I started them when I was a wee co-ed and I'll end them with a child.  Holy crap.  Anyways, I can still make a little wish list (emphasis on WISH) for my birthday, right?

Bun in the Oven (See Jane Bump)

ASOS sweater, ASOS coat, Old Navy chambray shirt, J Brand jeans, Gap booties (old but similar)
Maybe you've noticed all the baggy sweaters I've been wearing--or perhaps you've picked up on the fact that I have been avoiding skirts (they just don't fit right at the moment).  The cat's out of the bag; I'm 17 weeks pregnant.  I'm still admittedly in a state of disbelief but even so, we, along with everyone in our lives, are so excited.  And if I'm being perfectly honest, we're also a bit scared (is that alright to admit?).

So, what's different?  My pants hardly fit (I've been starting to use a belly band) and my bump is only sometimes noticeable (mostly at the end of the day/post-meal).  Otherwise, I'm feeling good and enjoying this second trimester energy spurt that I've heard so much about.

Thanks so much for your kind words on instagram earlier today--it means the world to Eric and me!  Jerome is going to the the best big brother, right?!

How to Wear: Leather Pants (See Jane Wear Over and Over)

I decided early last fall that my wardrobe wouldn't be complete without leather pants.  I didn't want to go cheap on them either; I never found a "pleather" version that looked good and the less expensive real leather versions weren't up to my standards in terms of fit (i.e. Zara, H&M, etc).  While I wasn't willing to cut corners on the perfect pair, I also wasn't about to cough up nearly a thousand dollars for the pants, either.  I ended up with the perfect pair--the Theory leather leggings which I bought for 30% during a friends and family sale (no tax and free shipping, too!).  Eric joked that this would ultimately end up a piece at the back of my closet--worn a few times, never to see the light of day again.  When I ended up wearing them well into April, he took back his words and realized I got the most cost per wear possible on these babies.  My advice: if you're on the fence about leather pants, take the plunge!  You will wear them non-stop in the winter and again the next year.  I'm living proof (and I most recently wore them here and last year here, here, here and here).

My favorite versions out there (most on sale!) are:

Copenhagen Cozy (See Jane Wear)

Vince sweater (c/o), Helmut Lang suede leggings (on sale!), Seychelles boots, Celine bag,
Stella McCartney sunglasses (borrowed/thanks Jan)

I've never been to Denmark, but it's on my short list of places to visit.  Scandinavian street style is my inspiration when I wear simple, no-fuss outfits in a neutral palette.  They make the minimalist movement look very appealing and it always looks chic.  There's nothing groundbreaking about this outfit, but sometimes you have to go back to basics--especially on a chilly weekend.
