Peanut Butter + Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats (See Jane Make)

It doesn't happen often, but when I get a sweets craving, it needs to be satisfied it immediately.  On yesterday's cold, dreary Sunday, the need for sugar hit me and only peanut butter rice krispie treats would do--with chocolate on top (just like my mom used to make for my classroom birthday treat).  These sugar cravings come so infrequently that I feel obligated to satiate them--just listening to my body, you know?

3 T butter
10 oz marshmallows
1/2 c peanut butter (I used Skippy Natural to lessen the sugar)
6 c rice krispies
1 bag semisweet chocolate chips

In a saucepan, melt butter and marshmallows over medium heat.  Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter.  Add cereal and mix until coated.  Place mixture in a greased baking pan and mold with fingers. Melt bag of chocolate chips and use spatula to spread over pan of rice kris pies.  Freeze for 5 minutes (so chocolate may set).

After seeing your post, I just realized that I haven't made rice krispies in so long! Looks great, but I think i'm partial to the regular kind. I like to put a bit of vanilla extract in mine.

my grandma and I make a very similar recipe except we add in butterscotch chips with the semisweet for a more complex flavor
