St. Lucia (See Jane Travel)

'head' shots
Right before Christmas, Eric and I traveled to St. Lucia for some rest and relaxation.  Ironically enough, it was one of the more physically active vacations we've been on (I don't count walking around cities to be physically straining).  We hiked the Gros Piton (a famous mountain on the island), took mud baths in sulphur springs, toured the island by boat, jumped off cliffs into the ocean and even made our own chocolate at the cacao plantation at our hotel.  It definitely wasn't the quintessential Caribbean vacation I had envisioned but honestly, I had more fun getting to know the locals, seeing the sights and taking in everything St. Lucia had to offer.  Not only is the island breathtakingly beautiful, but so are the people; to me, the best thing about traveling is getting out of your comfort zone and learning more about the world around you and that's precisely what we did.

  13. We looooove St. Lucia. Went for our honeymoon. When we were there, we didn't do much of anything other than move from the pool to the beach, but we're dying to go back and take advantage of all the awesome activities on the island. And you're so right, the people there are WONDERFUL!

  23. Hi Jane,

I found your blog by accident and love it! Question--my fiance and I are deciding where to go on our honeymoon and St. Lucia is at the top of the list. May I ask where you stayed? We are thinking Sandals La Toc. Do you know it?

    Thank you--and Happy New Year!

  24. @mrsJPruitt - They're Karen Walker 'Deep Freeze'

@Kate - You'll love St Lucia...we stayed in Soufriere at Hotel Chocolat and I'd recommend any hotel in Soufriere (Jade Mountain is one of the top hotels in the Caribbean and a big honeymoon spot). I've never heard of the Sandals resort you mentioned but I'm sure it's amazing as well! (you can't go wrong there :)

  35. How did you like the Hotel Chocolat? I was considering the hotel for my honeymoon but my now husband nixed the idea beacuse it wasn't right on the beach and they only had one restaurant -- and he's a very picky eater. I think it looked beautiful from the pictures on the website and it's on my list of places I'd love to visit at some point in my life!

  36. @Lauren - we really did love it but your husband's right...it's not near the beach (like 10 minutes) and they have a shuttle but we just took the hotel's boat out for two days (which was amazing). Also, I thought the food was unreal..way better than any other hotel food I've had--super fresh and local! email me if you have any other qs :) seeannajane@gmail.com
