Color Coded (See Jane Wear)

Cheap Monday chambray top (similar), Banana Republic skirt (c/o), F21 necklace (old), Rebecca Minkoff clutch (c/o), Pour La Victoire heels, Corey Lynn Calter belt
I know the term 'pop of color' is grossly overused, but it's exactly what this skirt provides in this outfit.  It'll be perfect with black accents in the dead of winter, as well, but for now, pairing it with a chambray shirt and a summery clutch seems like the right thing to do.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Tuxedo (See Jane Wear)

F21 top, J Brand jeans (similar), Zara heels, Marc Jacobs bag (old, but this year's version here), Karen Walker sunglasses, Tory Burch bracelet (c/o RewardStyle)
Thank you all for your sweet comments about Jerome.  I would be lying if I said having a puppy isn't hard work, but boy is it rewarding.  He's such a fun addition and I love knowing that he will continue to be a part of our family for a long time.

I wore my first pair of pants in what seems like weeks as it cooled down at least 20 degrees yesterday.  It felt pretty nice and I'm ashamed to day it got me semi-excited for fall.  I know, I know--I wait all year for near-sweltering temperatures only to wish for the cool breeze of autumn once the 4th of July passes by; I clearly have issues.

Jerome (See Jane's Puppy)

passed out + flipped ear
I'm having a total 'proud mom' moment and want to give you all a little glimpse of our newest addition.  It's our first english bulldog, but my love for them runs deep. My heart is just bursting for this little guy and I'm sure you'll see him pop up on the blog from time to time.  We had a great first weekend together and I'm already excited to watch him grow!

bad to the bone.

And in case anyone is well-versed in Pittsburgh football, yes, he is named after Jerome "the Bus" Bettis (one of Eric's idols).

Too Darn Hot (See Jane Barely Wear)

Rory Beca dress (old, but newer version here), F21 shirt (similar), Pour la Victoire wedges, Super sunglasses, Mulberry bag (now on sale)

The best way to re-use a semi-formal dress?  Put a shirt over it and knot it.  The best way to keep cool on a summer day that hits a record high?  Wear said semi-formal dress to work because it's the lightest, most breathable silk ever (and put a shirt over it, because said semi-formal dress is backless).  Check out how I topped this dress with chambray last summer.

Back In The Navy (See Jane Guest Post)

ASOS dress, H&M belt, Prada wedges, Mulberry bag, Super sunglasses
I'm guest posting over on Pink Peonies while Rachel is on vacation.  Be sure to check out her blog for the whole post on my go-to summer outfit.

Pinky (See Jane Wear)

ASOS dress, Zara sandals, Mulberry bag, Tory Burch sunglasses
Normally, I wouldn't wear vivid color AND pattern combination together, but the scathing temperatures changed my mind (or my brain was fried--jury's out).  When it was too hot to function last week, I doubled up on the hot pink to stay cool and twisted the hair away from my face.  The dress pattern is a bit cutesy for my normal taste but if you can't wear hot pink florals in the summer, when can you?

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Strawberry Shortcake (See Jane Make)

I bought a huge carton of strawberries on Sunday (on sale, hence the huge container) and subsequently panicked.  Strawberries turn quickly and I knew that if I didn't use them soon, they'd go to waste.  As soon as a entered "strawberry" into Google, the genius that is autofill took over and the rest is history.

Cut up strawberries and let them marinate in their own juices by adding some sugar and lightly smashing them.  I made a simple shortcake out of this recipe and also homemade whipped cream (I used 8 ounces of heavy whipping cream, added a teaspoon or so of sugar and whipped until I had soft peaks).

Great Outdoors (See Jane Wear)

Old Navy shorts, Zara top, Prada wedges, Chloe bag (similar), Karen Walker sunglasses
I've never been a huge green fan, but something about it just makes me think of the outdoors.  Of course, in this outfit I'm not going hiking, camping, or fishing--rather just one of the many festivals outside in Chicago where you can drink on the street.  Yep, summer has me under its spell, that's for sure.  I'm not going to claim that I've been super busy, though; nope, I think I'm just enjoying it.

Vested (See Jane Wear)

Old Navy vest, F21 tank, Saint Grace maxi skirt (similar), Prada wedges, Chloe bag (similar)
Sometimes, I think mid-summer dressing can be monotonous; it seems like the only options are dresses shorts.  Rinse and repeat.  (Note: no complaints from me, though--I dream about 88 degree days for about nine months out of the year!)  Come July, I'm normally in a clothing rut.  I'm hoping this lightweight vest will help me spice up the ol' wardrobe; it's the lightweight layering piece that I probably don't need--perfect!
