Chicago Favorites: Food (See Jane Eat)

I've received some emails asking for some of my Chicago favorites and thought it was high time I start compiling a list.  My fair city really has so much to offer and there's much beyond this list but hopefully this will start you in the right direction.  Food is always at the top of the list when visiting new cities and I've provided a wide variety of favorites.  I purposefully added restaurants in various neighborhoods as there's lots to see beyond touristy downtown--hope you like them!

Brunch: Lula Cafe
Summer Patio: Big Star (also some of my favorite tacos)
Worth the Wait in Line: Hot Doug's
Pizza: Pequod's + Piece
Sushi: Toro
Drinks/People Watching: The Pump Room
Major Food Coma: Q
Italian Bites:  Bar Toma
Meat Market (literally): The Publican

As always, feel free to email me with any questions (I'm definitely behind in my emails but I will get back to you eventually, so thanks for your patience).  I'll be sure to post other lists such as must-sees and shopping in the near future.

Pink Lemonade (See Jane Wear)

Milly tank (old), Gap jeans, Super sunglasses, Prada wedges (on sale!), Chloe bag (similar and cheaper)

When I look at this outfit, I automatically think of pink lemonade.  When I think of pink lemonade, I recollect back on that scene in Bridesmaids when Kristen Wiig takes a sip and says "oh, that is FRESH."  It makes me chuckle (fine, laugh out loud) every time.

...and that's all I have for today.  Hope you had a great weekend!

In The Navy (See Jane Wear)

Gap tank, F21 skirt (similar and great price), Lovely People wedges (old), LV Neverfull, Karen Walker sunglasses

I've worn this skirt twice in the past week (I've had the opportunity and different audiences) and it's not even mine.  This skirt is all thanks to my big sister; I had it in my hand to buy it but figured I could wear hers seeing as we live in the same city now.  Anyway, what's better with navy than more navy?  I couldn't resist doubling up on it; in fact, it matches so well that most people at work thought this was a dress.

Wishing you all a wonderful first weekend of summer!

Instagram'd (See Jane Snap)

I've been instgram-ing for about a year now but have only recently been snapping outfit shots here and there for the past few months.  I love that it's a fun and convenient way to connect with my family, friends and readers.  Here are a few outfits that I've been wearing over the past couple months (that haven't been on the blog); you can follow me on Instagram, here!

Wind + Sun (See Jane Wear)

BB Dakota top (old), Forever 21 pants (similar), Nine West heels (c/o), Chloe bag, Super sunglasses
I apologize for the sporadic posting lately--I guess that's just what happens when life takes over!  I've been back in Ohio a couple times in the past week for some much needed family time.  While at home, I went on a quick shopping jaunt with my sister.  For some reason while back at my parents' house I always end up in the nearby chain stores; the racks are more organized and the selection less picked over, so I really can't help myself.  I'd been wanting a pair of silk Tibi pants but instead, I picked up these pants at Forever 21 for a mere $17. What can I say?  Home is where the heart is.

Spearmint (See Jane Wear)

thrifted dress (last seen here), Zara tweed blazer + shoes, Karen Walker sunglasses

Wearing this dress made me nostalgic for the last time it was photographed--I can't believe it's been a year!  I'm also noticing the stark contrast between Andrea's photos and mine; dang, she's good.  Anyway, I enhanced the vivid, green color of the dress with a bright white and black shoes.  This is much more office appropriate this time around but still provides a great transition from day to night, which is exactly what I needed.

Shift (See Jane Wear...In The Heat)

Parker dress, Super sunglassesDolce Vita sandals (old), Chloe bag (similar and less expensive!), Giles & Brother spike bracelet
During the summer, Chicago becomes a town of festivals.  They're fun and a huge part of this city's culture but they're also hot, crowded and you're  usually standing around all day in the direct sunlight.  On a day like Saturday, my solution is a shift dress--the less material that touches you, the better.

Also, thank you all SO much for the winery and food co-op suggestions!  I'm going to take note of all of them in the upcoming weeks and hope to check out everything (..someday).

Summer List (See Jane Plan)

Every year once summertime rolls around, I mentally make lists of activities, festivals and places I want to try.  This time, I'm putting it out in the open--more so to hold myself accountable.  I have lots of grand plans and now that I have a job where I'm not constantly out of town, I may be able to do more than usual.
hanging in the Côte d'Azur two summers ago

Make my own ice cream
Rent a lakehouse for a weekend
Visit a midwestern winery* (Michigan, perhaps?)
Ride a bike on the lake
Take a mini roadtrip to a place I've never been*
Go to yoga in the park
Join a food co-op for fresh and local vegetables weekly*

Thank you all so much for your support of the Everygirl feature!  Also, be sure to check out a little photoshoot I did of Jan for my friend's fitness blog.

*Suggestions welcome!

Sneak Peek // Everygirl (See Jane Style)

I teamed up with the talented ladies over at the Everygirl to style different looks of what to wear as a wedding guest for three different occasions.  Take a look at the feature and while you're over there, check out what the Everygirl has to offer; there's tons of sage advice and in-depth interviews with awesome entrepreneurial women--I wish I would have had a reference like this back when I was making crucial career decisions!

Easy (See Jane Wear)

Forever 21 top, Old Navy jeans (last worn here), Zara heeles, Mulberry bag, Tory Burch sunglasses
I've been scooping up sleeveless button-down tops left and right for the warmer summer months.  They're easy to throw on and add a little pizazz to any bottom in your closet--from jean shorts to lace skirts.  When I saw this top at Forever 21 while home in Ohio for a weekend, I knew I'd get its $14 worth and more; it was an easy buy.
