Hair Matters (See Jane Review)

Lately, I've been feeling in a hair rut.  My hair is long, straight and frankly, I'm getting a little bored.  I initially grew it out for my wedding and now that it's come and gone, I don't feel so obligated to keep it a certain way.  I have fine hair (but a lot of it) and it doesn't do me any favors to keep it super long.  I'm very attracted to the mid-length bob, but fear I may end up looking like Angela Chase (or myself in the 5th grade...yikes).  Regardless, here are a few styles that have me swooning:

Speaking of hair, the lovely people at Misikko sent me a Hana hair dryer to review and so far, thumbs up. I generally don't do product reviews, but since this type of product is so relevant in my everyday life, I decided to give it a go. Actually, I try not to wash my hair every single day (you can be grossed out--it's ok) but when I do, I generally blow dry it for at least a little a few minutes.  This hair dryer is definitely reminiscent of the one my stylist uses: heavy duty and lightening fast--I think it's a safe assumption that it will last me many years.  If you're in the market for a new one, I'd recommend at least checking it out.  (Plus, if you order anything from Misikko, like hair irons or travel dryers, they send lots of extra goods like shampoo and product!)

Please tell me I'm not the only one who skips a day when washing my hair.

  1. Gosh no . . . I do every other day too as recommended by my hairstylist. I love both these looks, can't wait to see what you decide to do.

  2. I have been feeling that same sort of hair rut too! I love my long, curly locks, but I'm also ready for a change! But, until I know what I'd really like to do, I think I better not make any rash decisions, haha! Happy Friday to you!

  4. Aww that made me laugh. I try to wash my hair as little as possible. it is really curly and dry so leaving for 2/3 days really helps. Washing it everyday would ruin my hair! It shouldn't be icky really

  5. haha that's funny - I go as long as I can without washing my hair! Usually 2 days is the max... but it's just too much to have to do it every day and it's damaging. I'm in a hair rut too, I even mentioned that my beloved blow dryer and I are on a break in my last post. PS - I think a bob similar to Olivia Palermo's would look fantastic on you :)

  7. Haha, my hair gets so dry and crispy from any heat-styling that I have made dry shampoo my bff! I don't go more than 3 days without washing, but if I could I would ;) I love OP's hair, too! I have actually been thinking about going darker like her color lately....
A hair cut puts a new spring in your step-- don't go super-short, but definitely go for a cut!

  10. I am in the exact same situation. I am growing out my fine (lots of fine) long hair right now for my wedding. But I cannot wait to cut it off like Olivia afterwards! I say do it

  11. I am also at a near breaking point with my hair...I am about a week away from cutting it short and dyeing it red (Scully from the X Files is the inspiration for this). I also go 2-3 days between hair washes...my hair is really fine so washing it leaves it even finer and thinner for a day or so.

  14. um, no! I actually wash my hair about every three days. It's extremely thick and long and doesn't get greasy fast (thank god, because when I DO wash it, it takes about an hour and a half to blowdry and straighten!)

  15. I'm in the opposite boat - trying to grow my hair out - but to help keep it healthy as it grows, I try to wash it as infrequently as possible. I wash. But my hair just gets water. I have fallen in love with Psssssst dry shampoo - it adds volume, which I need because my hair is silky and fine (but, like yours, there's still lots of it) and it really works at degreasing my roots. Plus, it's 8$. Highly recommend!

  16. I try not to wash every day either, I have to when i wear it curly bc after a nights sleep its a rat's nest! But if I straighten it, you can sure bet 1-2 maybe 3 if I can!!!

  17. Um, you are most def NOT the only one that skips showering... I can't really do it anymore (what with a full time job that requires me to look nice) but back at school (highschool and college) I use to go days (DAYS) without showering. It was disgusting but I liked rotating my baseball hats and I claimed it was "good for my hair to soak up the natural oils." Please try not to judge me or throw up in your mouth after reading that... :)

  21. I didn't think I'd do the post-wedding chop, but I did. I guess everyone does! It's especially funny that no one seems to like their hair long and yet we all want it long for the wedding.

Your hair would look fantastic in any of the midlength bobs you posted. Go for it, we're all excited for you!

PS: I'm dying my hair "rocket red" next week!

  23. I absolutely skip a day... or two...! Wanting to try dry shampoo actually. But anyways, you could definitely pull off the Olivia Palermo, just wanted to cast my vote.

  24. Trust me you are NOT alone... just like Jill above, I skip a day or two as well! Dry shampoo rocks! I've been using it for a couple years now... I was using Oscar Blandi from Sephora for a long time and then recently started using Tresemme because it's a lot cheaper.

    Have a great weekend!

  26. I skip washing my hair every now and then and I actually love how my hair is when I skip a day. So you're not the only one!

I have long hair too and I'm about to cut it since the split ends are starting to show up. haha

  27. I've heard that it's better for your hair not to wash it every day! So I wash mine every two or three days. (Although at three days, dry shampoo is a lifesaver!)

Go ahead =D

  30. These are such cute hairstyles. I am with you, i don't wash my hair everyday and it actually makes to so much easier to style. Can't wait to see what you pick.

  31. Olivia's look is lovely and I think you should go for it! It is still a long look. I can't wait for the day that I can change up my hair - I have grown it out for about 2 years now and it is the longest it has ever been. When I see pictures like Olivia, I want to cut it! You will look great with whatever you decide!

  32. I've been contemplating that exact long bob, or lob ;) for quite some time! I've been waiting for my bangs to grow out, but now that they almost are, I'm a bit nervous! I think it would look fantastic on you, though!

  33. I have thick, wavy hair and cut my hair into a mid-length bob. Check out Angelika Blick (blogger) for great hair! Honestly, its a great choice, especially for the summer and is super easy to style. Go for it!

  34. I know it sounds yucky but I do skip days too. I live in the Philippines and it is scorching hot but I find that my hair dries out if I wash with shampoo everyday..
