Maximize (See Jane Go Long)

Throughout the past few months, it's seemed like all fashionable ladies have been letting out their hems and donning longer skirt lengths.  Ever since junior high, when long skirts first started making an appearance, I participated in the trend, but always felt awkward in floor-skimming lengths.  I'm on the taller side, so I felt the silhouette wasn't doing any favors to my pre-teen figure (see: body of adolescent boy).  Well, the long skirts are back and I'm dying to try it again.  I ran into a bit of a caveat while shopping with my fianc√© awhile back; I showed him the long skirt I was about to try on and he replied, "Are you Amish now?"  Note to self: when I do muster up the courage to wear a floor length skirt, don't test it out on him.

Until then, I will admire these lovely ladies who make a long skirt look especially good (and I know the fiancé would definitely approve--just look at them!):

I love the long skirt trend but I am on the short side and I am not sure if that works with my height.

Great collection of pictures!

A. I feel like a long skirt completely compliments a taller figure.
B. My boyfriend doesn't get it either, but I don't care.

Such a fan of the long skirts in this cold weather right now! And these girls styled them so well!

I'm also ridiculously tall and am intimidated by the length of maxi skirts. I keep meaning to try the style out. Great blog!

I love this trend too! I have a long skirt and my husband made a comment like that about it at first too. But now he loves it! Haha. Boys just don't know.

Ooh, you've featured some of my favorites here! I've yet to try the maxi... I wasn't sure I could pull off the maxi dress of last summer, but I think the skirts seem more doable, somehow! Will be hard to rock before late spring though, otherwise would be dragging through snow, then slush, then mud! Oh, Canadian climates.

Love the idea of the long skirts and maxi dresses. I just can't pull them off for some reason. Kind of like leggings. They look great on everyone else, but on me...not so much!!

I love this look on other people but I think I'm just a bit too short to pull it off.

Nice outfits, the first one is my favorite.:D

I think wearing one can be tricky but hey, it's all about taking risks sometimes!:D

Being a similarly built and tall gal, it is quite a statement when I wear my maxi skirt (I have a long, fairly straight number in blk). The Bf has nothing terrible to say about it, but he does wonder why I am "dressed-up" every time I wear it! ;) You totally need one!

great looks. if I was taller I'd be all over the longer skirt.

I love these blogs! I've been scared to try the long skirt thing too, especially since it's been snowing so much in Chicago...don't think the uggs would look too hot with these skirts! hehe.

The things that are fashionable and cute to us are definitely not sexy and cute to the men in our lives! The hubs and I have has plenty of those conversations...but I love the maxi trend!

Sometimes the menfolk just don't understand our fashion references... maybe try a cinched in waist with your maxi (like Taylor) so he can get how feminine the look is!
